Oh, well hello there!

Hi, I’m Mattie — the photographer behind Framed & Mattied. I’m so glad you’re here!
I was born and raised in Lisbon, North Dakota, and photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. What started as taking photos of pets, flowers, and North Dakota sunsets with a little digital camera eventually turned into the business I run today.
I graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Strategic Communications with an emphasis in Marketing, and I’ve been photographing families, seniors, couples, and weddings across the Fargo–Moorhead area and throughout the Midwest ever since.
These days I live in Portland, North Dakota with my boyfriend and our two dogs — Lucy, my 10-year-old mini Aussie rescue, and Ridge, our energetic Brittany spaniel.
One thing I hear all the time before a session is, “I’m so awkward in photos,” or “I have no idea how to pose.” Almost everyone shows up a little nervous — and that’s completely normal.
But something really special always happens. Within minutes, people start to relax. The nerves fade, the laughs start coming naturally, and by the end of the session they’re often surprised by how confident they feel in front of the camera.
I still remember how nervous I was for my own senior photos — and how confident they made me feel afterward. Being able to give that same feeling to others is one of the most meaningful parts of this job.
When I’m not behind the camera or editing photos, you’ll usually find me working on creative projects, thrifting vintage finds, decorating, or spending time outdoors with my dogs.
If you’re looking for a photographer who will guide you through the process, help you feel comfortable, and create photos you’ll truly love — I’d be honored to work with you.
