Oh, well hello there!
First of all – thank you! I’m honored that you’re taking the time to check out my website. I’ve spent soooo many hours creating it! Writing this “About Me” page was surprisingly harder than I thought it would be. If we’ve never met, I hope this page can give somewhat of an insight into who I am and answer any questions you may have about me.
Let’s start with the basics – I’m Mattie Olson and I’m the heart-and-soul of Framed & Mattied Creative Agency! I was born and raised in Lisbon, North Dakota and grew up with an older sister, a loving mom and dad, and several pets. I am a photographer, social media specialist, designer, event planner and everything in between! I am also a proud dog mom and the BEST aunt in the world. My friends and family would describe me as outgoing, goofy, sarcastic, caring, and most importantly CREATIVE! When I’m not editing pictures and have a little free time, you can find me doing Pinterest projects in my apartment, shopping at Target and Hobby Lobby, practicing yoga, or walking my dog, Lucy!
Growing up I was obsessed with taking photos with my little point-and-shoot digital camera. I spent my time photographing my pets, flowers in my mom’s garden, and good ole North Dakota sunsets. As I got older, I became “that friend” that brought her digital camera EVERYWHERE and photographed EVERYTHING. I took hundreds and hundreds of terrible, cringe-worthy photos – but I keep them as a reminder of how far my skills have come! Everyone has to start somewhere, am I right?!
For Christmas in 2012, my wonderful parents got me the BEST GIFT EVER – a used Nikon D40x, my very first “fancy” camera! Words cannot describe how excited I was. I immediately started making my cousins and friends “model” for me every chance I got. After posting these photos on Facebook, family friends began asking me to take their pictures. I finally decided to make my photography hobby into an official business. When brainstorming name ideas with my mom, she came up with the perfect name that stuck – Framed & Mattied! (Thanks for your creative mind, mama!) I began to get more and more clients and grow my business throughout the rest of high school.
After graduating high school in 2015, I moved to Fargo to attend NDSU. I continued to do photography as a part-time side gig as I attended school. I graduated the spring of 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications with an emphasis in Marketing. I now run Framed & Mattied Creative Agency full-time! I live in an adorable one-bedroom apartment in Fargo with my fluffy rescue dog, Lucy.
I am passionate about what I do and love that I get to utilize my creativity every day! I am truly happiest when creating.
